Gandham N V Ramana
Senior Public Health Specialist
Dr. G. N. V. Ramana is currently working as a Senior Public Health specialist in the New Delhi office of the World Bank. Dr. Ramana has started his career as primary care physician in Nigeria working in a child health centre and subsequently acquired master's degree in public health.
During the past twenty years he worked in several institutes focusing on assessment of public health program impact and health policy research. He was associated with reputed institutions like the Administrative Staff College of India and National Institute of Nutrition. He participated in burden of disease and cost effectiveness assessments undertaken in several states of India (starting with Andhra Pradesh) and Nepal. His areas of academic interest are health policy, equity and public private partnerships. He is one of the authors of recent World Bank publications "Better Health Systems for India's Poor", "Achieving the Millennium Development Goal of Improving Maternal Health: Determinants, Interventions and Challenges"; and "The Poor and health Service Use in India".
