Expanding knowledge and promoting capacity development are also important OCHRC objectives. In 2001, OCHRC and the World Health Organization invited interested institutions to submit proposals to prepare an evidence-based report on research in child health. The report, entitled Child Health Research - A Foundation for Improving Child Health, highlighted the practical application of research results in child health and nutrition and reinforced the basic goals and objectives of OCHRC. The report and its messages were presented first at the UN General Assembly Special Session on Children in November 2002 and then disseminated more broadly.
