Request for Proposal (RFP) - 4: Understanding the Effectiveness of Large-Scale Child Health and Nutrition Interventions

Background:

The RFP-4 was announced in 2005 by OCHRC (Initiative) with support of Global Forum for Health Research (GFHR). The objective of RFP-4 was to conduct a study to determine factors that promote or retard effective large-scaled child heath and nutrition intervention coverage at scale. In addition, the study would document delivery process and analyse the data that would be useful in assisting further scale-up and implementation of large-scaled child heath and nutrition interventions and develop a document with real lessons learned at the country level.

In 2006, OCHRC awarded institutions from Mali and Papua New Guinea (PNG). The study in Mali was aimed to assessing the effectiveness of semiannual vitamin A distribution in Mali through National Nutrition Week (SIAN). While the study in PNG was targeted to find better use of public health campaigns for child survival by assessing the impact, processes, expenditure, and future opportunities of the Supplementary Immunization Activity (SIA) during 2003 to 2005.
