RFP-1: Asia

Child Health and Nutrition Research in Asia-Pacific: An Assessment of Research Priorities in Research Institutions

Institute of Clinical Epidemiology (ICE) of University of Philippines, Manila was awarded the RFP-1. The regional and country research teams assessed eight countries in Asia, i.e. Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), Pacific Island Countries, Philippines and Sri Lanka. The country sites were selected based on human development and health system performance indicators to represent different country capacities in Western Pacific and Southeast Asian regions. The project was successfully completed in 2005.

OCHRC has published a monograph, “Child Health and Nutrition Research in Asia-Pacific: An Assessment of Research Priorities in Research Institutions” that provides findings of the research teams about the diverse country profiles in terms of stage of development, child health and nutrition status, research capacity, availability of data for evaluating CHN status, inequities in access and distribution of resources among other challenges.
